Help… I’m Unproductive!
Warren Buffett wisdom helps many people in many different areas of their lives.
One way in which many people struggle is that they lack productivity. People have vague plans that they never really bring into clear focus or make real.
Many of us want to be more productive but can’t manage it. This is often because we don’t actually know exactly what we want to be productively doing. We have numerous interests. We dabble in them all. We spread ourselves too thin. We fall between stools.
How To Find Focus?
In order to be optimally productive (and happy) we must be able to focus. We must know exactly what we are trying to achieve. And we must focus on that.
Warren Buffett offers some invaluable wisdom on how to find focus.
Warren Buffett’s Life-Changing 25/5 Technique
Warren Buffett suggests you whittle down your goals and priorities. To do this, he recommends the 25/5 technique.
Here’s how it works.
Write a list of the 25 most compelling goals you have. Then choose the top five most important goals from the list. Jettison the remaining twenty goals.
These top five goals are all that matter. All the other twenty goals you need to not pursue. The top five goals are what you will concentrate on. This means not working on any of the others.
Cut Away The Fat, Build a Lean Schedule
Having too many goals means you spread yourself too thin. When you spread yourself too thin you end up achieving nothing much.
It is optimal to have a shortlist of super-compelling goals. Put all of your efforts into these goals. This way you will have a much better chance of achieving them.
Getting rid of the twenty goals that are important but not quite as important can be emotionally difficult. But it is a sacrifice worth making. Life is full of essential trade-offs. Deciding what goals not to pursue is an essential trade-off.
Clear and Concise Goals
Warren Buffett’s wisdom teaches us to be succinct and focused. Having a small number of super-compelling goals gives you a much better chance of success!
Adopting Warren Buffett’s 25/5 technique will change your life for the better.
