And you thought journalling was only for pre-pubescent girls!!??
Hell no!
In this episode we celebrate the glorious power of journaling. A daily scribble in my trusty old diary is probably the single best tool I’ve found for managing and improving my thinking, and in so doing, hugely improve my happiness, confidence, productivity and general mental health levels.
If you are anything like me, your thoughts often exist in your head as a big jumbled mess. Confusion reigns! Putting your thoughts down on paper is an extremely effective way to figure out what you are really thinking; what you want, what you fear etc. Getting your thoughts out of your skull and onto paper lets you examine them and find out if they are reasonable and healthy.
Knowing thyself is a crucial first step towards becoming happy and successful (in whatever way you personally define that), and journalling is the single best way to know thyself that I can think of.
There are various forms of journalling – stream of consciousness, goal-setting, day reviews, gratitude lists. We spend some time discussing the immense power of gratitude journalling, which we believe from experience can totally change your outlook and life in general if worked on consistently enough. There is always lots to be grateful for and if you can train yourself to regularly find and focus on it you will be a happy person.
We also discuss some things that can get in the way of your journalling, such as perfectionism and procrastination, and how to overcome these.
So tune in, and if you aren’t scribbling away furiously before the 30 mins is out we’ll give you your money back!
This is The Gentlemen’s Game.
