#6 Shitting Myself Onstage and Why Did I Tell a Massive Lie
In this episode of The Gentlemen’s Game Broadcast I relay my first experience at Toastmasters – an organisation aimed at developing participants’ public speaking and leadership skills.
I speak openly about my intense fear of public speaking. How my whole body shakes along with my voice. How my body draw in on itself. How I fail to maintain of thought in the face of said fear. And how all of this lead to a massive lie.
I highlight my vulnerability in the hope you may gain comfort with yours. We all have weaknesses, so admonishing yourself for being weak is an exercise in futility. Embrace your flaws first, and then – and only then – attempt to change them. All the while understanding that we are all fallible creatures, so never can we fully eradicate all defects from our person.
I also reveal a ridiculous and embarrassing lie I told during the meeting in order to delay my speaking.
This is The Gentlemen’s Game.
Hope you enjoy guys!
